Wedding at Great Marsh Estate | Madison & Chase

There is something extra special about photographing a wedding day for two people who have already grown through so many seasons of life together. Madison and Chase met in high school, and their wedding at Great Marsh Estate felt like the perfect celebration of the story they’ve built together.

Their day was romantic, timeless, emotional, and filled with beautiful details — from Madison’s pearl-covered bridal look to an outdoor ceremony surrounded by the gorgeous grounds of Great Marsh Estate. And somehow, it only became more beautiful as the sun began to set.

A Timeless Black and White Great Marsh Estate Wedding

Madison and Chase chose a classic black and white palette for their wedding day, which couldn’t have complemented Great Marsh Estate more beautifully. The timeless color palette paired with the romantic architecture and grounds of the estate created an elegant backdrop for every part of their celebration.

The florals and carefully chosen details softened the black and white palette and gave the entire day that romantic, elevated feeling while still allowing it to feel completely like them.

Madison’s Incredible Bridal Look

And then there was THE DRESS.

Madison’s wedding gown was beautiful on its own, but the pearl-detailed overskirt completely transformed her bridal look. Finished with a statement bow, it was romantic, feminine, and absolutely perfect for the setting.

One of my favorite little details came later: Madison had custom reception shoes featuring a drawing of Great Marsh Estate. Details like this are so much fun to photograph because they’re not only beautiful — they’re part of the story of the day.

First Looks With Her Bridesmaids and Dad

Before the ceremony, Madison shared two incredibly sweet first looks — first with her bridesmaids and then with her dad.

I love building moments like these into a wedding timeline because they give the day room to breathe. For just a few minutes, everything else stops and the people closest to you get to really take in the fact that you’re getting married.

And the reactions are always worth it.

A First Touch Before the Ceremony

Madison and Chase wanted to save the moment they saw each other for the aisle, so instead of doing a traditional first look, they chose a first touch.

They stood together without seeing one another, holding hands and sharing a quiet moment before the ceremony began. It gave them the chance to connect and calm some of those wedding-day nerves without taking anything away from the anticipation of seeing each other for the first time during the ceremony.

There’s something so romantic about knowing the person you are about to marry is right there — and still waiting just a little longer to see them.

An Outdoor Ceremony at Great Marsh Estate

Their outdoor ceremony was everything a Great Marsh Estate wedding does so beautifully: elegant, romantic and surrounded by gorgeous Virginia scenery.

And after waiting all day, Madison and Chase finally got to see each other.

Watching someone you’ve known since high school walk toward you on your wedding day is a pretty incredible full-circle moment. Surrounded by their family and friends, Madison and Chase officially began their next chapter together.

Just Married

After the ceremony, we took advantage of the grounds around Great Marsh Estate for portraits.

One of my favorite things about photographing weddings here is the variety without having to take the couple away from their celebration for long. The architecture, gardens, greenery and open spaces give us so many opportunities to create portraits that feel romantic and timeless while still leaving room for the candid, in-between moments.

Madison and Chase made that part particularly easy.

Sunset Portraits at Great Marsh Estate

And then the light showed off.

We slipped away from the reception for sunset portraits, and these ended up being some of my favorite photographs from the entire day.

I always encourage my couples to consider leaving 10–15 minutes open around sunset. It’s a chance to step away from the noise of the reception, spend a few minutes together as newlyweds, and create some of the dreamiest portraits of the day.

For Madison and Chase, that little pocket of time felt especially fitting — romantic, relaxed and completely focused on the two of them.

Celebrating Madison & Chase

Once everyone was back inside, it was time to celebrate.

Their reception brought all of the beautiful black and white details together, but more importantly, it was filled with the people who had watched their story unfold from high school all the way to their wedding day. There were emotional moments, plenty of laughter, and a packed dance floor — exactly how a wedding celebration should end.

Madison and Chase, thank you for trusting me to document such a beautiful chapter of your story. It was an absolute joy getting to capture all of the big moments, tiny details and everything in between.

Congratulations, you two. 🤍
